PROCESS
Both portions of this assignment will be completed in groups of three. Each portion of this assignment requires research to be done on the internet to gain information about the life process of flowers. Being a team player, discussing information and reaching a consensus is essential in completing this assignment.

PART 1
Act as if the members of your group are friends that would like to begin a group that grows flowers for the sick. Research has to be completed. No one has prior knowledge of a flowers’ life cycle, and more importantly how to take care of a flower. One person will be responsible for researching how to plant a flower, another member of the group will be responsible for looking up the necessary steps to take care of the flower, and the remaining person will look up steps to take if a plant ever gets sick, or is on the verge of dying. Any additional information or interesting facts that are found by the group can be taken note of and incorportated into your presentations or cards. Once the information is researched, plant a flower of your choice as a group. Take pictures of the flower through its life cycle.

In order to complete your assignment, all of the following requirements must be finished:

Person 1:
1. What is a flowers life cycle?
2. How does a plants life cycle begin?
3. Describe the parts of a flower and how they are similar to human parts.

Person 2:
1. What are the necessary steps to maintain a healthy flower?
2. How can a person determine how much sunlight, water, vitamins are necessary to maintain a healthy flower?
3. What kind of impact does neglect have on a flowers life cycle?
Person 3:
1. What are signs to look for in having a “sick” plant?
2. What is the first thing a person should do if these signs are noticed?
3. Can plants be revived if sick?

PART 2
Present the information that you found during your research by creating a PowerPoint presentation. Make sure to creatively answer all of the questions assigned to each person using pictures, diagrams, and videos. Don’t forget to include some of the pictures taken of your flowers life cycle.

Also, each person in a group will explain why it is equally important for humans and flowers to be well maintained and the possibility that exists for sick flowers/humans to become healthy again.

Part 3
This section of the project is called give back with flowers. This is the written portion of the assignment. While each person will write a letter or make a card for a sick child, the entire group will present their plant that they have grown to the children’s hospital and read their letters or cards to the receiving child. Imagine that you are related to these children that are battling all types of illnesses. While coming up with your letter, think about what you would want to hear someone say that would cheer you up during such a difficult time in your life. I would like for you to read the following article called, “Showing Care For The Sick By Giving Flowers.” (Click on the title to read the article)

In your letter/card, use the following questions as a guide for both the contents and organization of your final product.
1. Incorporate a section of “Did you know that flowers…..”
2. Make sure to include at least 3 similarities between human and flowers.
3. Include any personal experiences on any illnesses you or a family member has experienced and how this was overcome.
4. Include a paragraph on the importance of overcoming an illness and steps that a person can take to accomplish this (i.e. maintaining a healthy diet, taking vitamins). Make sure to incorporate how plants stay healthy and how humans can do similar things to stay healthy and experience longevity.
